Merlin Hochstetler puts on his boots while Kaira, his bay mare, snags a bite from the hay bale. Merlin, who grew up outfitting with his father in Montana's wildernesses, has developed a love for the Arabian horse after he and his wife, Telesha, bought their first Arabian mare in 1986. The couple has breed more than 100 Arabians and Half-Arabians.
