Merlin Hochstetler, owner of Majik Arabians in Corvallis, Mont. walks in front of the barn while Jim Weiss, a trainer from the Big Hole, works a horse in the round pen on a chilly afternoon in October. Every fall, the Hochstetlers and their friends train the young horses before winter hits in the Bitterroot Valley.
