When Monica and Kimmo's eldest son Kalle was 10 years old he was hit by a car permanently damaging his brain. Here, Monica and Kimmo look at a poster Monica made explaining the symptoms of Kalle's form of Traumatic Brain Injury which she made to educate Kalle's classmates when he first returned to school after the accident. Soon after his return it became evident that Kalle would not be able to function in a regular classroom so the Virtaneva's pulled their children from public school and have homeschooled ever since.
