Merlin Hochstetler works two Arabian horses, Shadow Majik and Cinco De Majik, in the round pen during an early snowfall. The Hochstetlers start their horses under saddle at five and six years because Arabian horses mature much later than other horse breeds. Hochstetler uses many of the methods from the Parelli Training Program that combines psychology and communication to teach people how to train horses. Merlin works to establish leadership by chasing the horses away and than allowing them to come back, or rejoin with their owner.
